Transmigrations

Updated: Aug 11, 2020

We know love transends borders, language, religions..But many times these differences in our society do not allow love to attain its fulfillment..

The girl swearing to keep waiting for her boyfriend may bow down to her family pressures one day..

Or she might disapprove of him knowing well that their relationship can never see the light of the day, and her lover might live with a sinking heart for the rest of his life..

The boy may never convince his parents of a match outside his community..

Both of them may realize one fine morning that they can't live by going against their community.. their religion..

Though literally preaching of acceptance of people of other cultures, the differences in prejudices towards other people inherent in the communities themselves would never allow such intermingling..so what if their religions teach them to treat true love with the same dignity as worship ?

But even if we let ourselves take course in the regular flow of life.. with all our families, relatives and ideals we've been brought up with..the secret doors of our minds still keeps on nurturing our unrealised love in silence ..

THE POEM

1

One day I'll transcend all the transmigrations of life And turn into specs of dust of an inanimate world Would you come to know of my ultimate transformation ? Even if I leave earth, I'll take refuge in the air.. Embellished with the fragrance of your body, abandoned by you.. Uninvited.. If you ever feel pity for me Just take a look back and be witness to a cosmic revolution.. I'll wait till your footsteps have died down.. You have never appeared before me in flesh and blood But I know you since many transmigrations.. Know them to actually take place in one's single life..

2

When on the night of your first transmigration.. You'll close your eyes in ecstacy.. And sink into an unimaginable, ineffable sea of happiness.. I'll become two drops of tears and hide behind that secret door of your mind I promise I won't flow down your eyes on any pretext.. When you'll migrate from one life to another The expectations of your relations from you would soon touch the sky.. And you'll try desperately to keep your world together I'd still be with you..in your battle to make your presence felt before your loved ones.. Like a gust of wind inside your long forgotten, dust-ridden trunk.. Embracing my letters I had once written to you.. As long as you'll need me..

3

When at the sunset you'd run to the graveyard.. And find me getting turned into dust.. little by little.. Do take a look at the other side of the border too.. You'll find a pyre burning side-by-side.. Open your mind's secret door then Allow my body to get wetted a little.. Otherwise how could my soul ever attain emancipation ?
