An unfrequented route..An unknown river..

Full upto the brim during the monsoons..Now with only knee-deep waters..

And you thought I had the guts to brave the currents ?

Sitting at a cheap food outlet by a dusty bye-lane

Having taken the first bite of my burger

I find my heart in my mouth..

As your message beeps into my old-model, button-pressing mobile phone..

Just a Smiley ?

Now, here lies the challenge of guessing your mood..

An innocent simper ? A meek grin ? A serious laugh ?

An irritated smirk ?

But I'm not a Smiley Expert !

I struggle everyday to get hold of the bus's footboard

When would I set my foot into my own family..I don't know..

I remember your Dad's face..The look in his eyes which measured me..

'So.. What do you do young man ?'

I grin from ear to ear..

I visit my boss's chamber regularly nowadays..

Dragging my silly ass.. waging my tail..

'Sorry, your increment shall have to wait..

You see the company's order book is not promising' my boss elucidates..

'But Sir..I've marriage on the cards..'

There goes my grin again.. displaying my thirty two pairs of white

But everytime, in every place only the smile comes out..

the words don't..I don't know why ?

On your wedding night my mobile beeps again..

I stare at your remorseful smiley..

And can't stop being amused at your sense of humour

Squatting on the lush greenery of the park..

Munching groundnuts stirred with the salt of my emotions..

Suddenly the innocent looking peddler demands throwing a mocking smiley at me..

'You here alone Sir ?'

But this time I'm ready..

I clench my teeth and fire my rude smiley

The sky groans above..

What? How could the sky judge my mood when..?

Looking ahead I find the groundnut pedlar vanished..

I forget to notice when the rain with her deft shapeless hands has etched a smiley on my face..
