She had appeared to be the dream love he had been searching in the dating sites since months ... While most of the profiles were fake or hardly communicated beyond a mere 'Hi' or their likes for Arijit Singh, Varun Dhawan or a particular type of pizza...she continuously chatted for about an hour...and he had to excuse himself for want of topics...Even then the moment he signed in later in the evening she was there... Soon they became friends on facebook and exchanged their Whatsapp numbers... Within few days he got to know a lot about her...at least the proximity in a relationship necessary to ask a girl out...He learnt that she was a teacher in a prestigious higher secondary school and lived with her mother in a nearby metro suburb.
They had planned to meet at a coffee shop near the National Library where she often went.. He could hardly take his eyes off the entrance door as time ticked on in agonizing sluggishness...It was more than an hour past the time she had promised to come and he thought it necessary to call her now; ignoring her request not to call her that day...To his dismay he found busy tone on the number every time he tried to connect...He tried to text her but the messages went pending. He then tried facebook but was shocked to find her account deleted. For days he kept on calling and texting her like a madman but to no avail and then one day a computerized voice told him the number did not exist. ______________________________________________________ This piece also serves as an eye-opener to the huge number of internet users involved in long chats with strangers often luring them into providing personal information and later asking to upgrade. Just think of the information we provide to the apps and websites while registering which could be a mobile number, an email id or a date of birth. How easily we get attracted to these visually appealing apps and convinced to permit access to data stored or share our current locations. We are also made to accept the privacy policies stating our willfulness to data submissions. Have we ever wondered what happens to our personal data after that ?
