Valentine Blues: A Fag End

Andy’s joy knew no bounds upon receiving a gift he had always wished to have, but neither had the guts nor the money to buy it. Andy was a chain-smoker and it was due to Maria’s constant nagging that he had finally quit smoking. Now when Maria herself presented the ‘designer cigarette lighter’ to him, he found no time rushing to the nearby cigarette shop to make use of it. Hardly had he held the lighter to his mouth to light his favorite fag, when her girlfriend plucked it out and crushed it beneath her feet. ‘Some gifts are to be treasured for life and never used, duffer’, she bopped him on the nose.
